Shocking news in Seattle, PTTM America, today. The Virtual Shell truck company's drivers went on strike this morning and abandoned their trailers in the middle of the streets of Seattle.
The decision was proposed by the union officials to their members who voted in favour of the motion at 98%. Negotiations between the employer and the union officials were stopped since august.
Many of the Seattle citizens have already suffered from traffic congestion caused by the trailers blocking the road. The Mayor of Seattle, John Cicerella, said that the situation was chaotic at rush hours and that cars were lining up for miles on the highways and in downtown Seattle. Luckily only two accidents were reported.
Mayor Cicerella asked Police Chief, Stephan Winters, to take immediate measures to remove the trailers from the streets and also said that a file in court could be made against the union.
Reached on the phone this morning, Transpoint Trucking CEO, Mr. Johan Sontag
told the Herald he was shocked to learn that some of his tankers were left on the streets. "This situation is out of our control, we have a partnership with the Virtual Shell trucking company and they haul a few of our tankers from Seattle to New York when we need their help" said Mr Sontag. He also apologised to the Seattle citizens and said that measures would be taken so these kinds of incidents would not happen anymore.
Police report confirms that a total of twenty tankers were abandoned throughout the city and the Seattle highway system, only two were Transpoint Trucking inc. tankers.
Later today, Mr. Sontag, informed us that Transpoint Trucking inc. has made an agreement with The Virtual Shell trucking company. Transpoint will haul Shells tankers while the strike continues. He also added that Transpoint will also need to hire new drivers to supply to the demand. Drivers interested can submit their resume on the Transpoint Trucking website.
